VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Good Samaritan in Vincennes is taking a leap into the future with their new delivery system.
They teamed up with Arrive and plan to add smart mailboxes to their delivering methods. These mailboxes will receive deliveries from people, robots, and drones across a safe shared network.
As technology continues to advance, so does the world around it. Different companies are constantly trying to find new ways to implement this technology in the best way they can.
After their partnership with Arrive, Good Samaritan thinks they have found their way. Dan O’Toole is the CEO of Arrive, and he explains what this partnership is going to accomplish.
“The things we are setting out to do are delivering better patient care. That’s where it all starts and ends, but as a part of that there are so many byproducts that are great too. Taking vehicles off the road, reducing pollution, faster turnaround times. All of those things are being delivered through autonomous delivery,” said O’Toole.
The main concern of this was if it was going to be safe and secure. People were curious as to how they would know how drones would get from point A to point B.
Adam Thacker is the COO at Good Samaritan, and he ensures that safety was one of their main concerns.
“We certainly wouldn’t go live with anything that didn’t work, increase efficiency, and should be an enhancement to today’s manual transportation of a vehicle. I have all the confidence in the world that not only is the mailbox behind me secure, that the drone technology is advancing by light years,” said Thacker.
The constant improvements of making sure patients get their results in an efficient and timely manner will always be their number one priority.
“We feel like we are moving in this direction and want to be on the forefront that will make our employees lives better and help get our patient’s results sooner,” Thacker added.
